Joint Membership

Joint memberships are available for two individuals that are cohabitating.

As a prospective member, you are encouraged to attend several meetings as guests of a current member before seeking to join so that you get to know the club and ensure there is alignment with your goals and the club’s expectations of membership. Our experience has proven that business networking comes with volunteering and establishing relationships over time with other club members.

Existing members must propose new members.

The club places great importance on achieving meaningful charitable goals through fellowship and collaboration. The motto of Rotary International and our club is Service Above Self.

Membership Responsibilities

  • Being Engaged in Rotary. This can take various forms: attending our Tuesday meetings, participating in service projects, club committee work, attending the meetings of other Rotary clubs, or serving on District, Zone or Rotary International committees.
  • Annual dues are $550 ($275 for members under age 40) for the 2020-2021 year and must are due within 60 days of invoicing. New members also pay an initiation fee of $100.
  • Regular charitable giving to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), the Calgary Rotary Funds Foundation (CRCF), or both, is expected. These foundations support our international and local projects that bring great benefit through Rotarians everywhere.
  • Contribute to at least one service project such as our Christmas Hampers program.
  • Committees: Members are expected to join and be full participants in at least one of the club’s areas of service, fund-raising or organizational committees. Application to join a committee should be made to the committee chair listed on the club website. Committee membership enables members to develop close friendships while working alongside fellow members to achieve good outcomes for the club and humanity and to have fun along the way.
  • Pass a Police Information Check within three months of being approved as a new member. The club covers the cost of the police check.
Once you decide that this is the right club for you, you submit your Application for Membership. It must include two current club members as proposers. An interview with a member of the Membership Committee will follow. If membership is recommended, your name will be published for one week in the member newsletter by way of notice. Assuming there are no objections, your application will be approved by the Board. The member application process may take six to eight weeks.
