Carl Smith Stay-In-School
Over the past 25 years, our Stay-In-School program has been a beacon of hope for countless children, ensuring they not only complete high school but also pave the way for a brighter future through post-secondary education. Today, we come to you with an urgent plea to help us continue this invaluable work and make a lasting impact on the lives of the children in our community.
With your generous contribution, we can make a real difference in the lives of these kids. Your donation will help us provide one-on-one tutoring, educational tablets, and crucial scholarships to support their post-secondary education expenses. By supporting our program, you will be directly contributing to building the foundation of a brighter and more promising future.
Join us in our mission to support these building blocks of the future. Together, we can break barriers, change lives, and create a brighter tomorrow.
Donate now and become a driving force behind the success of our Stay-In-School program.

Educating African Youth (EAY)
Started by the Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown, this project provides advanced education or training to AIDS orphans and other impoverished youth in Africa. At the moment our efforts are focused in Uganda. Since 2011, sixty three young people have graduated and most are employed in professional and skill areas. Another 15 are in the queue to complete their education. Eight to 10 students are selected each year for advanced programs lasting between 2 and 4 years.

Major Donations
Each year the Major Donations Committee reviews local community-based projects or initiatives to make funding recommendations for grants over $10,000 for those that meet the charitable interests of our Club. Most of our donations traditionally range $10,000 - $25,000. We fund capital projects as well as programs or services. |

Small Donations
The Small Donations Committee receives and reviews funding requests, up to $10,000, from registered charitable organizations in Calgary and its surrounding areas. Funds are primarily provided for projects and programs that support children, youth at risk, seniors, literacy, mental health, poverty reduction and other needs that may be identified from time to time. The committee supports organizations that benefit the community without requiring ongoing financing from the Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown.

World Community Services (WCS)
World Community Services (WCS) manages many projects that have positively impacted the lives of thousands of men, women and children from all parts of the world. Funding for projects stems from a number of sources: the Rotary Club of Calgary, individual’s donations and matching grants through the Rotary Foundation. Each year the WCS committee manages a budget of approximately $250,000.00 to support projects large and small; locally and abroad. Whether the project is for the one-time supply of a 20 seat computer lab for a school in Sierra Leone or to manage a multi-year community program, the WCS committee oversees the end-to-end project governance and stewardship. |
