This week was our Remembrance Day observance. The commemoration included University of Calgary professor Ian Lewis' Last Post and Reveille, and two minutes of silence to remember the sacrifices of the fallen.

 

After the head table was introduced, Manon Mitchell and Michael Pierson led us in the singing of O Canada. Our greeter Tom Tait delivered the invocation, a reflection on political leadership and the four-way test.

 

Thanks go out to our front entrance volunteers John Seigner, Eric Bennett and Bob Junker. There was no COG sponsor for this week's meeting. Manon Mitchell, Michael Pierson and Tim Heaton led this week's sing-song, a medley of memorable war time songs, which included It's a Long Way to Tipperary, Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, (There'll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover, and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

 

Club secretary Kurt Kowalchuk announced this week's visitors and guests, and extended the club's acknowledgement of the four club members celebrating birthdays.

 

Our President-Elect Rick Erven announced the incoming members of the board of directors. The following club members have been elected by acclamation to two-year terms beginning in July 2019.

• Bruce Yorga received a Paul Harris pin and certificate.
